Protection Boards
The board based fire protection systems are used to form rectangular encasements around steel members such as internal beams and columns. These boards are strong, lightweight and non-combustible which can be used in constructions. The fire protection boards are simple to work and fix. They are easy to decorate and resistant to the effects of moisture, so won't rot or decay. Paint or other finishes can be applied directly to the boards dependant on boards utilised. The level of fire resistance achieved depends upon the type and the thicknesses of the boards used, and upon the method of attachment. Products can achieve up to 4-hour rating of fire protection, with differing thicknesses of board. The advantages of fire protection boards are they provide a clean and dry installation process, they provide performance and finish. They also provide up to 240 minutes of fire protection performance.Intumescent Paint
Intumescent coatings may be sprayed or brushed onto steelwork like paint. When the painted materials become heated by flames, the intumescent coating swell or expand to form and insulating char. This char insulates the substrate from the surrounding heat and provides the extra time for the building to be evacuated, before structural failure of the steel. Intumescent coatings can achieve up to 120 minutes fire resistance, and are used mostly on exposed steelwork. The main advantage of using intumescent paint instead of another method of fire protection is the pleasing finish it gives to steelwork once coated. Intumescent paint is also easy to apply, easy to cover complex detail and also easy to protect fixings to steelwork after the initial application.http://www.pyrotectltd.co.uk
